About us

Books and coffee, my two passions, under one roof.

For years, opening a café-bookshop was a dream I shared with a friend, one of those that feel far away… until life asked me for a change and I decided to take the leap. A space on Calle Borrull crossed my path, and that's how chiquita began.

I'm Gloria, from Córdoba, and a product designer. Valencia has been my home for many years, and for a good while I worked at a studio designing furniture for others. In chiquita I've put that craft into every detail.

Why chiquita?

To begin with, because of my aunt Manola, who has called me that since I was a little girl. Because of the Andalusian in me, which came with me from Córdoba. Because of the attitude: small, but with plenty of character. And, why deny it, because of my height.

The neighbourhood

We're in the Botànic, and we like what's close by: the pastries and empanadillas come from local bakeries, and at the counter there's coffee, soft drinks and wines from small, local producers. We want lovely things to happen at chiquita, and the neighbourhood to feel they're its own.
